The Rabbit hole has you...

I’m being Dislike “botted” on YouTube from Slovakia ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hoping this gets out to someone that can help or point me in the right direction to correct this, lol.

Apparently it turns out I’m being Dislike “botted” on YouTube from the country of Slovakia. Not sure if I pissed a person from there off, if my content is really THAT bad or if someone’s got a thing against YouTubers trying to help raise awareness of Cyber Security issues in general, but I find this odd and frustrating.

Now, I’m no stranger to dislikes or differences of opinions

I know this is the INTERNET and trying to please everybody who sits in front of a screen and browses content is an impossibility, so that’s not my issue. My issue is I’m relative new to YouTube as a content creator, I’ve only been actively uploading since August of 2018. My growth has been relatively moderate and I’m actually happy with the results so far, to be honest. And I would hate for that growth to become stunted over something like this so early on.

Over the past few days I’ve noticed my dislikes increment per day an average of 1-2 dislikes for EVERY video after Sept 2018. I guess this particular bot can only go back so far. At first glance, I contributed it to maybe a person online that doesn’t particularly like me or any of my content which I’m ok with, if it was just one or even a few people they could only dislike a video once via their Youtube account. It’s not like they can come back and add a dislike counter each day. So if that was the case, I was fine with that. However, it seems now the video dislikes are about to surpass the single digit threshold and this I have a problem with because now it seems it will start to rival with my likes… O_o

I went into my analytics and after some research I found the following data points.
Exhibit A: A geographic table of likes to dislikes for the top 11 results in the last 30 days. That’s a whole lotta “hate” from one random source.

Exhibit B: A table of likes to dislikes for the past week. Something seems very fishy about those last three dates, wouldn’t you think?

Exhibit C: A table of likes to dislikes for actual subscribers. I had one dislike for an actual subscriber (Thank you REAL person I value your input, honestly) and then 130 dislikes for non-subscribers… which isn’t a smoking GUN but if you factor in the last two exhibits, it means whoever is doing this is using multiple accounts that aren’t even subscribed to me. At all.

I did a little research to see if there was anything I could do and it turns out YouTube doesn’t really provide direct assistance it seems. Especially at this point since my channel is still very small. I guess there probably isn’t much I CAN do but keep making content, grow my channel and try to legit get more likes than fake dislikes? IDK, it’s February 20, 2019 and only three days in this phenomenon, so consider this my public logging of this thrashing. Now, some say Likes and Dislikes really don’t make a difference in the growth of a channel, but then other sources say it can affect your channel with suggestions and visibility. Honestly, I don’t know right now, I’m still a Noob YouTuber. In any regard, if you currently subscribe to my channel, appreciate my content and genuinely LIKE what I create, please hit that LIKE button lol. No matter what I won’t stop my YouTube channel or succumb to a dislike frenzy. If anything I will just continue to document this to the point perhaps maybe one day YouTube can correct it? Who knows…
